The Wooden Bin
The warm patina of aged wood and weathered, chippy paint speak to my heart. The character of a timeworn piece is captivating, like an old story or the brush strokes in a painting. It reminds me of the ancient architecture you see throughout Europe... which I'm enamored with. This is my inspiration for The Wooden Bin. I love to showcase pieces with their original vintage and antique charm. The worn corners and touches of rust are often beautiful.
Of course, sometimes they're not. Sometimes I find furniture that has lovely form, but was neglected over the years and needs restoration. These are the pieces that are fun for me. Painting has always been my love. I won my first art contest at the age of ten, and ever since then I've lived with a paintbrush in my hand... whether put to canvas or a dresser. You will never find my furniture finished with just two simple coats of paint. I love bold distressing... layers of colors and mediums that build depth. It tickles me to see a piece transformed. Salvaged, from what would have been curbside junk to a unique and stunning eye catcher.
